**About the Role**

We seek individuals to help 'connect the dots' across our client base, leading implementation of our local market approach to grow our business. This encompasses primarily Core business and will partially include Innovation and Reinsurance as a capital management instrument with the focus on expanding our profits and deepen client relationships. This will be delivered by maintaining close links with relevant Product, Transactions and Solutions colleagues to serve our clients' best. The role of the Market Underwriter encompasses two some aspects:

- External client service _- Develops, maintains own personal contacts and drives the ongoing development of relationships at senior management levels with clients.- Pro-actively initiates discussions with clients and brokers relevant to their perceived needs in order to develop and implement appropriate reinsurance solutions.- Tracks and communicates industry/sector/environment developments and raises these for discussion with clients and brokers in conjunction with a considered viewpoint on opportunities/threats to clients for such developments and how Swiss Re may be able to assist.- Coordinates with the appropriate CE / DCE to ensure the handling of local operations of Global and Southern Cone large clients is managed in accordance with the respective client strategy and their local requirements.- Maintains an up-to-date view of Swiss Re's main competitors in the MU segment, as well as our firm's own competitive position.- Disposes of solid understanding of the business culture in the region of her / his responsibility.
- Internal client service _- Contributes to and challenges the development of objectives for clients.- Maintains relevant depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding of the operations, structure and issues regarding allocated clients, including the market environment.- Maintain close links with relevant Client Market teams and Product Divisions and become actively involved in appropriate internal and external reporting, objective setting, etc.
- Underwriting_- Provides input on overall product strategies to the Hubs as and when needed. Contributes towards the drafting of local underwriting guidelines and renewal messages, if needed and ensures compliance with underwriting guidelines.- Ensures risk analysis, structuring and capacity deployment with focus on costing accuracy and underwriting discipline.- Makes underwriting decisions within his/her authority levels, and supports the management of the escalation of cases exceeding his/her authority in accordance with authorities and responsibilities as listed in the Referral & Escalation Process Guidelines.- Provides support to ensure an appropriate usage of and accuracy in reporting (sales) and underwriting tools.- Interact with UW Hubs and Special Lines Teams as Client Manager for business outside the UW box of market Underwriter.

**About the Team**

**About You**- Preferred background: Bachelor's degree or higher.- Advanced English and Spanish is considered a plus.- Substantial P&C underwriting experience.- More than 4 years of experience in client markets or underwriting positions in insurance / re-insurance industry in Latin America, particularly in P&C.- Demonstrate good understanding of local country non-life insurance and reinsurance markets and are ready to broaden accountability for your client interactions and encourage a cross-functional client team.- Strong relationship and client focus - The ability to develop close business relationships with external and internal clients and the ability to leverage relationships to business benefit.- You are a natural team player, you enjoy people interaction, vivid discussions and are commited to deliver your tasks timely for the benefit of the team.- Emotional intelligence - The ability to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior in navigating internal and exte
