**About Mercado Local**

We are an early-stage tech startup pioneering the concept of community commerce and credit, starting with Brazil and Mexico.

Specifically, we (1) Directly connect suppliers with the local communities they serve, saving our customers 30-50% on essential grocery and household spending, and (2) Expand access to credit.

We reach customers through an innovative, community-focused approach, and are committed to improving the financial well-being of the low-income and middle-class communities we serve.

We are a venture-backed startup led by a founder with two decades of startup and fintech experience.

**About the Job**

This is an important senior leadership role on the founding team.

As a General Manager of Brazil, you will be responsible for the successful launch and growth of Mercado Local in one of our most strategic metropolitan areas in Brazil (to be discussed with you during your interview).

More specifically, you will be responsible for P&L across a region of millions of potential customers, and lead all functions to achieve this, including:

- Hiring key roles, including field sales, warehouse/supply chain management, customer service, and product supply
- Managing a high performing team and building a strong culture
- Growing the business and meeting growth and profit targets

**Requirements**:
We are looking for someone who thrives in an unstructured, entrepreneurial, challenging early-stage environment.

We’re looking for people with scrappy/startup mindsets that are committed to getting results, enjoying themselves in the process, and excited about our social mission.

Ideally you have:

- Built startup teams from scratch
- 7+ years of leading/managing high performing teams
- MBA or related advanced degree, or equivalent work experience
- Native Portuguese fluency, with strong fluency in business English
- (Nice to have) Logistics expertise at venture-backed startup
