A key part of our work involves partnering with national governments, regional institutes and other actors to increase the uptake of Global Fishing Watch technologies to designate and monitor marine managed areas.
**Position description**
The Marine biodiversity training manager will play a key role in ensuring Global Fishing Watch delivers on its impact driven goals to support more effective marine protected areas (MPAs) and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs). This includes supporting countries to achieve their international commitments on MPAs and OECMs, such as Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework; the upcoming implementation of the BBNJ Agreement, which includes area-based management tools (ABMTs), including MPAs; and other international frameworks for species and habitat conservation such as CITES and CMS. - Keep up-to-date with practical operational developments and regulatory changes within core country and international policy frameworks (e.g. CBD, BBNJ) in order to inform training content revision and conduct internal training or coaching on these issues
- Assist the capacity development team in aligning Global Fishing Watch work with best practices within marine ecosystem protection
