Team Introduction

The AMS global accounting team is part of the Accounting and Reporting team. Our team covers the general accounting functions in the US, Canada, and LATAM. We are the owners of GL accounting and oversee the month-end closing process. We work across various accounting projects and provide technical support. We also support the year-end reporting and audit inquiries as required.

Position Summary

The LATAM Senior Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the PIPO financial reporting and compliance across multiple countries in the LATAM region (Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico). This role ensures adherence to local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate financial policies while driving process improvements and efficiency in financial operations.

Our Global Payments business provides payment solutions and financial services to ensure that users have a smooth and secure payment experience across our platforms and services.

We are seeking a highly driven Senior Financial Accounting Manager who can move fast and learn quickly to help establish new processes, improve and scale existing processes for our LATAM Infrastructure portfolio, including Brazil, Colombia, Argentina Mexico and any other Spanish speaking countries.

The ideal candidate has previous experience with FinTech and payment company in developing and refining business processes. They should possess a deep understanding of various business models and be able to analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement. This candidate has a proven track record of successfully implementing process enhancements that have led to increased efficiency, reduced costs, and improved overall business performance.

You should be able to work well with cross-border colleagues and cross-functional teams and assist with the management and ownership of the end-to-end operational processes for the subject areas. The successful candidate will be a highly driven, focused individual who can work well with internal and external partners at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Research accounting implications (in collaboration with Bytedance's accounting headquarter team in Hong Kong) from changes in the business, stay up-to-date on changes in industry trends, and use the information to inform internal decisions.
  • Partner with the global accounting/reporting teams to operationalize the accounting relating to complex transactions.
  • Partner with the local accounting firms to finish local monthly bookkeeping operations.
  • Coordinate with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of audit requests, and aid in the research and analysis of audit issues raised.
  • Basic knowledge of local tax rules and accounting implications.
  • Work closely with reporting/tax teams to ensure compliance with the local GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies through effective communications and globally coordinated execution. Also, able to translate/apply GAAP/international policies to operationalise complex accounting issues, including assessing the design and/or effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant accounting standards, and assess operational implications for any relevant changes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting fields.
  • Experience with FinTech and payment industry.
  • Familiarity with local COSIF and COFI - Chart of Accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of Financial reporting & Brazil local compliance and regulations.
  • Financial statements auditing, financial accounting, or similar experience; local filing experience and CRC certification.
  • High level of written and oral proficiency in English is required as the role will be working with systems, reading technical documents and communicating with Non-Latin American markets in English.
  • Experience working with business partners and engineers to effect changes; experience in optimizing or re-designing existing processes resulting from business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with local GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience working with LATAM countries, familiar with LATAM accounting policies.
  • Experience with Oracle.
  • System implementation experience.
  • Applicable in-house TMT industry experience.
