About The Team

The risk landscape is increasingly complex. The BCO team supports the various Business Units of Nubank with managing their risks in a proactive manner, aiming to strengthen risk maturity in the 1st Line of Defense. BCOs contribute to developing the BCO structure and help create best-in-class risk management in the 1st line of defense.

About The Role

To support the Business Units in achieving their objectives, BCOs balance risk and business priorities. By being hands-on, they lead by example and support the teams while protecting the interests of the company and stakeholders. The BCOs follow three pillars of focus:

  • Processes & Internal Controls: Ensure that functions/BUs manage risks through understanding processes and control environments, identify improvement opportunities, and drive efficiency with partners across the lines of defense.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance: Ensure functions/BUs comply with internal and external regulatory and risk requirements and align with governance to focus on product development.
  • Measuring & Reporting: Develop KPIs to monitor programs and ensure functions/BUs deliver as established.
As a BCO you will
  • Support/coordinate the business in managing First Line Risk Management activities (Onboarding, due diligence, credit and financial analysis on large, corporate and payment institutions, Losses & Risk Events, Internal control management, continuous improvement)
  • Build governance in a useful and non-bureaucratic way
  • Define and rate the internal control & risk environment
  • Proactively identify risk areas and drive remediation
  • Add a risk lens to strategy and product development
  • Complete documentation activities to minimize single point sensitivities and map processes

  • Product and/or Non-Financial Risk knowledge
  • High level SOX knowledge a plus
  • Hands-on and take ownership where possible
  • Independence and proactivity
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Quick learner
  • Good communication skills (concise and clear)
  • Wants to improve and challenge the status quo
  • Ability to challenge the various Lines of Defense
