Mercure Chennai Sriperumbudur is the only international brand in the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam industrial area and automobile hub. It is a 45-min drive from Chennai airport and Mahindra World City, and just 29 mins from Marimalai Nagar. The hotel features an all-day dining restaurant with alfresco, multiple meeting spaces, a fitness center, travel desk, and entertainment facilities. This hotel, located opposite Apollo Tyres, is also in close proximity to major corporations and IT companies.

Singaperumal Koil and Chengalpattu industrial areas are in the vicinity. Kanchipuram, famous for its historic temples and Kanjeevaram sarees, and Mahabalipuram, known for its historic monuments and beaches, are within an hour's drive. Guests can visit historical monuments at Mahabalipuram and the famous Ekambareshva and Kailasanatha temples at Kanchipuram, amongst many others. Chennai city Centre is easily accessible to guests via the highway.


Job Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting the Director of Sales in sales activities in line with the annual sales and marketing plan and to achieve/exceed budget in executing the sales strategy of the Hotel.

Reporting Lines

Reports to the Director of Sales.

Primary Responsibilities

Sales Support

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of the following (to include but not limited to):
    1. All hotel features/services, hours of operation
    2. Hotel function space, entertainment options, menus, and floral decoration options
    3. Hotel safety guidelines and evacuation plan
    4. Scheduled daily group activities
  2. Answer incoming phone calls in a pleasant manner using Hotel’s telephone etiquette guidelines. Handle telephone inquiries according to departmental procedure.
  3. Coordinate all group arrangements.
  4. Work with group contacts to facilitate program planning and requirements.
  5. Communicate group needs and specifications to all relevant departments.
  6. Follow up with Post-Conference reports and review group billings.
  7. Input all group bookings and update booking activities in the system on a weekly basis.
  8. Prepare reports, maintain proper records, and filing system in accordance with hotel’s sales administration process.
  9. Maintain gifts inventory and coordinate the sending of gifts to clients.
  10. Arrange site inspections for potential clients.
  11. Promote positive relations with clients and attend to all requests expediently and courteously.
  12. Acknowledge and handle clients’ complaints and comments tactfully and efficiently. Report incidents or other irregularities to management.
  13. Up-sell and promote hotel’s facilities and services at every available opportunity in order to maximize sales revenue.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Be fully conversant with hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures.
  2. Attend all briefings, meetings, and trainings as assigned by management.
  3. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  4. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  1. Diploma in Tourism / Hospitality Management / Events Management.
  2. Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar capacity.
  3. Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
  4. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
