The roleWe are looking to hire a Business Development Manager to lead our Latin America team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the formation and execution of our Latin America Group strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of the economic, political, and social factors that influence the Latin America market.
Who You Will Work WithYou will work with the Global Head of Sectors, Markets and Themes, who will be responsible for defining and executing our global sector, markets and themes strategy, as well as the Co-Heads of our Latin America Group and its communities across key product areas and key offices to deliver on the group's strategy, which will include driving client development, opportunity spotting, market analysis, overseeing profile raising activities and evaluating return on investment. We were the first global firm with a dedicated Latin America practice providing clients with holistic advice across the region's highly diverse legal, economic and cultural landscapes. We have been working in Latin America for decades and have a long history of acting in the region for all types of clients - corporates, investors, investment banks, commercial lenders, export credit agencies, multilateral and bilateral development agencies and sovereign and sub-sovereign governments.

What You Will Be Responsible For- Identify and leverage opportunities for growth within the Latin America market, enhance the firm's market position, and ensure delivery of integrated legal solutions to clients.
- Collaborate with sector, themes and global strategic client teams to develop priority clients and prospects via a systematic and thematic approach.
- Drive and support disciplined client outreach and client relationship activity across markets.
- Foster cross-product collaboration with global business units and knowledge, education and thought leadership teams.
- Maximise client relationship opportunities through flagship marketing and events programmes with the Marketing team.
- Prepare and rehearse lawyer teams for pivotal business development and client meetings.
- Leverage the Client Insight & Business Intelligence Team and sector teams to inform strategic marketing decisions and support client development.
- Increase visibility of upcoming client meetings to drive cross-selling.
- Lead on brand and reputational activities for the Latin America region with practice area and sector BD leads.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in Latin American markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies that leverage market insights for growth.
- Provide timely updates to stakeholders on market developments.
- Build and maintain relationships with key market participants, including government officials, industry experts, and business leaders.
- Keep core marketing and pitch materials updated on the Firm's pitch database ("Foundation").
- Apply best practices across the legal directory process to protect Band 1 positions and improve rankings.
- Develop and implement comprehensive market strategies with the Global Head of Sectors, Markets & Themes that align with the firm's objectives.
- Drive the development of the firm's expertise in key sectors and product areas through markets.
- Work with Client Insights and Business Intelligence to identify themes and trends and integrate insights into services and client solutions.
- Foster cross-practice collaboration to deliver integrated themes and go-to-market campaigns with marketing support.
- Enhance market positioning by collaborating with marketing and BD teams to identify opportunities and strengthen client relationships in chosen themes.
- Position the firm as a leader in Latin America through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and participation in relevant forums and panels.
- Serve as the global point of contact for Latin America inquiries, providing input on pitches and leading cross-practice opportunities.
Extensive experience in business development, preferably within a law firm or professional services, and ideally in a regional-focused role. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required. Proven track record in developing and executing successful BD and marketing strategies. Excellent relationship-building and communication/presentation skills. Strong technical proficiency with tools such as CRM and Mergermarket. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, law, or related field; an MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred. Willingness to adhere to the Firm's Agile Working Policy (office presence at least three days per calendar week). Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $225,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
