Job Description

CICS Transaction Server system internals are at the core of this role. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of how CICS works and be able to apply that knowledge to build, configure, and upgrade CICS regions.

  • Broad knowledge of Storage protection mechanisms is essential.
  • Understanding of Transaction isolation techniques and RENTPGM protection methods.
  • The ability to independently work on complex CICS projects with multiple technical resources.
  • Familiarity with Inter-region communication methods such as MRO and ISC.
  • Experience in installing and supporting vendor products that run within CICS.
  • Ability to restore service quickly through troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Coordinating activities involving multiple technical teams.
  • Able to meet deadlines and milestones while working on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in standard MVS tools: TSO/ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, VSAM Utilities, SDSF, etc.
  • Familiarity with security packages (ACF2, RACF, and/or Top Secret).
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery procedures including backup and restore, DR plan creation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with IBM Assembler language to review code and dumps.
