Position Overview

This is a Hazardous Waste Technician role that involves the collection, processing and packaging of hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and tracking records, performing qualitative testing on items and operating an articulating forklift safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, process and package hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking records.
  • Perform qualitative testing on items.
  • Operate an articulating forklift safely.

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer software skills.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds consistently and wear a respirator.
  • Valid Driver's License and Passport.
  • Able to stand for up to 12 hours daily.
  • Must pass a physical qualification assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of Hazardous Materials shipping/characterization or reporting experience.
  • 1 year of High School Chemistry or equivalent.
  • 1 quarter of college General Chemistry.
  • College degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science.
  • OSHA HazWOPER 40-Hour certification.
  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery.
  • Equipment operating experience.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a physically demanding environment, including bending, lifting and carrying heavy objects. The ability to deploy to Antarctica for the length of contract is also required.
