The Respiratory Therapist will execute a range of duties and responsibilities under medical oversight.
Key Responsibilities- Delivers Quality Patient Care
By integrating examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention to optimize patient outcomes.
Administering inhalants, performing bronchial hygiene, operating mechanical ventilators, delivering therapeutic gas administration, and performing hyperinflation modalities per established protocols.
Conducting cardiopulmonary and hemological diagnostic studies. - Maintains Safe Working Environment
Complying with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the environment of care and patient safety. - Determines Discharge/Discontinuation Services
Analyzing achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, planning discharge/discontinuation, and providing home instruction, follow-up or referral. - Records Patient Information
Documenting, dating, and authenticating respiratory therapy examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, prognoses, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility guidelines.
Billing for specific interventions provided. - Develops Professional Expertise
Participating in continuing education to maintain licensure, reviewing professional publications, and providing learning experiences for professional development. - Supports Team Efforts
Embracing change to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary, investigating opportunities for new lines of services, contributing to peer development, and promoting a positive work environment. - Ensures Compliance with Legal Requirements
Understanding and adhering to current standards of practice for respiratory therapy, guiding professional conduct, including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by regulatory bodies.
Providing appropriate supervision to healthcare professionals and coworkers. - Ensures Operation of Equipment
Completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs. - Protects Confidential Patient Information
Securing all information in confidential spaces, following facility confidentiality policy. - Contributes to PI Initiatives
Assisting the Clinical Resource Specialist with data collection, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting.

Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required, Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
Work Experience: 1-2 years of experience is required, clinical experience in all areas of respiratory care is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapy license is required, BLS/CPR for a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association is required.
