Key Responsibilities

This role will focus on optimizing embedded rail and truck freight costs that are currently managed by suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of inventory management in distribution or manufacturing environments and possess negotiation skills, including experience with RFPs. Additionally, they should have at least 3 years of sourcing and/or logistics management experience.

  • Business Partner: Develop strong relationships with strategic partners to co-create solutions, driving speed, quality, and best-in-class prices while communicating business risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver Contracting Excellence: Secure price, capacity, and service levels aligned with business commitments, mitigating commercial and business risks while managing benchmarking and RFP activity.
  • Category Expertise: Collaborate with Sourcing/Buying Managers to provide input to Category Strategy and align on strategic buying initiatives, creating tactical subcategory plans when necessary.
  • Supplier Relations: Manage supplier performance, build relationships, and identify joint opportunities while analyzing supplier service levels and KPIs to drive the right behaviors.
  • Portfolio Market Expert: Analyze external market trends and develop category expertise using peer networks, research tools, and supplier relationships to act as a subject matter expert.
  • Governance and Process: Ensure effective risk management of the supply base through robust contracts and monitoring of financial and other KPIs.
