We are seeking a seasoned public policy professional to join our team in Latin America as Head of Public Policy. This role will be responsible for building trust and finding common ground with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders in key markets across the region.

">About the Role">
  • Job Description: The successful candidate will introduce Discord to government policymakers and civil society stakeholders in key markets, educating decision-makers on our vision, products, and investments in privacy and safety.
  • Government Advocacy Strategy: Develop and execute a multi-year government advocacy strategy that maps our users' interests and business goals to the evolving legal and regulatory landscape in those key markets.
  • Emerging Trends and Action Plans: Identify emerging trends in online communications services regulation and build action plans responsive to these trends in coordination with our Legal, Product, and Communications teams.
  • Lobbying and Advocacy: Advocate for our position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting our users and business, balancing direct advocacy with effective leverage from coalitions and associations.
  • Regulatory Inquiries: Provide context and support for our responses to regulator inquiries.
  • Promoting Employee Awareness: Promote employee awareness and invite employee engagement on our public policy strategy and priorities.
  • Civil Society Coalitions: Engage in public policy coalitions with peer companies and civil society organizations.
  • Non-Profit Partnerships: Coordinate and drive compelling returns from our partnerships with non-profits and civil society organizations.
  • Government Affairs Consultants: Manage our government affairs consultants and advisors in Latin America.
">About You">
  • Professional Background: Sustained professional success at the highest levels of government and/or in strategic public policy advocacy.
  • Experience: Experience developing and executing public policy advocacy campaigns in Brazil, with experience in other key markets (Mexico, Argentina, Chile) in the region a plus.
  • Policymaking Process: Insight on the policymaking process in key markets throughout the region.
  • Mission Alignment: Commitment to our mission to be the place where everyone can find belonging before, during, and after playing games together online.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel as necessary within the region, with occasional travel to the U.S. as required.

If you have experience on technology policy initiatives such as online safety, privacy, cybersecurity, or content moderation, especially in the online gaming space, that's a bonus So are leadership experience with a civil society organization and/or tech company, and success building trust and consensus across stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities.
