Senior Accounting SpecialistThis is a highly responsible role for a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting and leadership skills.The ideal candidate will have experience managing accounting teams, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring quality control. They should be proficient in QuickBooks Online and have excellent communication skills.We are looking for a proactive and organized Senior Accounting Specialist to join our team.About the RoleThis is a high-ownership position that requires an expert in accounting principles, processes, and procedures. The successful candidate will manage a team of accountants, oversee daily deliverables, perform quality reviews, and serve as a key escalation point for client accounts.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and mentor a team of 2–3 accountants while fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Perform regular quality reviews and coach staff on accounting best practices.
  • Conduct performance check-ins and ensure timely completion of client deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex client queries.
  • Support clients directly during transitions and lead onboarding if necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and responsive communication, including written correspondence and live client calls.
  • Perform or supervise reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and vendor accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting: monthly closes, balance sheet reviews, and journal entries.
  • Manage vendor payments and reconcile AP / AR activity as needed.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (U.S. or Canadian clients preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience managing accounting teams.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (desktop knowledge is a plus).
  • Experience using Asana, Slack, Zoom, and G Suite tools.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax systems and reconciliation processes is a major plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and problem-solve autonomously.
