Job Title: Computer Support Specialist - Antarctica (Austral Summer 2025)

Job Purpose:

  • We are seeking a skilled Computer Support Specialist to join our team in Antarctica. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch technical support to our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair all computer systems and related peripheral equipment.
  • Provide direct user support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 work orders.
  • Install and configure computer hardware and software.
  • Perform daily review of assigned work orders and document resolution.
  • Accountable for offering technical guidance and mentoring of junior technicians.
  • Image, test, and install desktop/laptop computers for new hires or temporary duty employees.
  • Collaborate with System Administration and Network Operations teams as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of computer equipment and document procedures.
  • Manage retrograde efforts for computer equipment and perform DoD data wipe on hard drives.
  • Ensure safety is the highest priority in the workplace and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary; an AA degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • At least four years of experience in computer systems installation and maintenance is required.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows operating systems and applications is mandatory.
  • Experience with VMware and Linux is beneficial.

Benefits:

  • This is a full-time, seasonal position located in Antarctica.
  • All expenses paid while on-ice, including meals, lodging, medical care, gear, and travel to and from Antarctica.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Performance Period: October 2025-February 2026.
