Job Title: Community Development Specialist

Job Description

UN-Habitat is seeking a skilled and experienced Community Development Specialist to support the implementation of the Social Territories Programme in Rio de Janeiro. The programme aims to identify and integrate vulnerable urban populations into public registries, basic services, and the municipal urban fabric.

The selected candidate will work closely with local communities, organizations, and government agencies to develop and implement effective community development strategies. This includes:

  • Composing responsible teams for active search and selection of participating families
  • Visiting and assisting selected families as requested by the Programme Coordination
  • Disseminating the programme within communities through various outreach activities
  • Supporting the organization of local events and meetings

The ideal candidate should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in community engagement and development. They should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (social sciences, education, or community development)
  • At least 3 years of experience in community development, social work, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural and socio-economic contexts
