About the Role

Verifone is seeking a seasoned Commercial Counsel to support the commercial operations of its Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) division. This is a hybrid role that can be based in our Mexico City, Mexico or São Paulo, Brazil office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform transactional legal work for the LAC division, including contract drafting, negotiation, and execution.
  • Support and advise business teams on legal risks, contract interpretation, business strategies, and other commercial transactions and operations.
  • Assist with the establishment of standards, procedures, and protocols based on best practices.
  • Drive business deals to completion by monitoring resolution and closure of issues.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of outside legal counsel as needed.
  • Support other corporate, commercial, legal, and compliance projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Active bar membership.
  • At least 4-7 years' experience in the practice of law, with a focus on transactional corporate and commercial matters.
  • Native or business-fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Portuguese a plus.
  • Previous large law firm and/or in-house experience (in-house working experience at a multinational corporation in addition to large law firm preferred).
  • Familiarity providing advice on Latin America legal matters (experience in the technology and financial industries is a plus).
  • Self-starter, with strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to provide practical legal advice and support in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and outstanding judgment.
  • Top-notch time management skills and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills and demonstrated good judgment.
