This position will play a key role in community engagement event planning and management, including outreach activities, networking events, and community board meetings.
The Community Program Assistant is responsible for providing support to Howard University Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Program – Community Engagement Core (CEC), promoting awareness of health disparities, assisting in data collection for RCMI- CEC projects, and building and maintaining relationships with community-based equity advocates.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
- Responsible for orienting and training others and assigning and reviewing their work.
- May also be responsible for acting in a lead or senior capacity over other positions performing essentially the same work or related technical tasks and reporting to a higher level on a formal basis
NATURE AND SCOPE:
- Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, staff and students both within the department and University-wide.
- External contacts include government agencies, sponsor representatives, vendors, visitors, officials and the general public.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Community Outreach and Engagement:- Maintains a regular presence in the community through attendance at community events and partnering with local organizations to facilitate access to health-related information, resources, and services.
