Job Description

We are seeking an experienced engineering manager to spearhead the revitalization of our Landscape systems management solution for Ubuntu.

Landscape serves as a platform for managing large-scale Ubuntu estates. We aim to simplify it for enterprises, enabling them to own multiple Landscape instances that cater to their global estate and apply policy intuitively, even in complex environments with mixed Ubuntu versions, substrates, and flavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a team of engineers within your region.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • Exemplify sound engineering principles and directly contribute to your team's objectives.
  • Establish and manage expectations with other engineering teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee modern, agile software development practices.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Participate actively in the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders within the organization.
  • Design automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with various teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners.
Requirements
  • You excel at mentoring, developing, and growing individuals, with a proven track record.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge and passion for software development.
  • You focus on success and delivering timely, high-quality software.
  • You have experience and commitment to agile development methodologies.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • You have experience with software development in Python or Golang.
  • You possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have practical experience with Linux system administration.
