Financial Operations Director

Job Description:

The primary function of this role is to oversee financial operations in Brazil, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and reporting requirements. This includes managing order management and operational billing, as well as supervising tax and reporting compliance.

As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for driving process excellence, implementing new processes, and overseeing the relationship with independent public accountants and third-party accounting firms.

Responsibilities include monitoring the accounting function using established metrics/KPIs, overseeing in-house teams and 3rd-party service providers, and coordinating audit activities. You will also develop and maintain internal controls over company assets, revenue, costs, and program budgets/expenditures.

A strong leader, you will manage direct reports, mentor, and coach to ensure their growth and development within the organization. You will work closely with FP&A to provide financial data and present accurate and timely financial reports.

Key responsibilities also include building strong relationships with cross-functional senior team members, ensuring compliance with corporate accounting and internal control policies/procedures, including SOX and FCPA. Additional projects may be assigned by your supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in finance and accounting for a major multinational company or division of a large corporation required.
  • Local CPA or Public Accounting required, with Big 4 at a supervisory level highly preferred.
  • Ability to speak English fluently. Knowledge of Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience working with accounting systems and software, financial reports, audits, and corporate tax required.
  • Account system implementation and transitioning of accounting functions to Regional Centers of Excellence preferred.
  • Prior experience in billing operations and revenue recognition in a leadership role.
  • International accounting and Brazilian tax experience required.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting.
  • Strong Analytic, organizational, and critical thinking skills allowing for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to regional management and corporate team.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
