Job Overview

A highly skilled Logistics Operations Manager is sought to oversee the execution of transportation operations. This critical role requires an exceptional leader who can effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including carriers, fulfillment centers, and supply chain teams.

The primary objective of this position is to manage and develop a world-class logistics process that ensures timely delivery of goods at the best possible cost. Key responsibilities include:

  • Transportation Carrier Performance Management: Oversee on-time truck performance, linehaul impact on customer experience, and other relevant metrics.
  • Performance Metric Development: Identify and develop suitable performance metrics for each program, ensuring consistent measurement and accountability.
  • Data Analysis: Pull data from various databases using Excel, Access, SQL, or other data management systems, performing ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Metric Tracking: Create new and track existing metrics to detect and remove defects.
  • Communication Channels: Establish effective communication channels with external customers (carriers) and internal customers (fulfillment centers, supply chain, procurement, finance, Amazon Logistics).
  • Problem Escalation: Escalate problems or variance in information and data to relevant owners and teams, following through on resolutions to ensure their timely delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Design short- to medium-term solutions to improve performance and quality of operations.
  • Capacity Management: Analyze existing trucking capacity versus forecasted capacity requirements, particularly during seasonal peak times.
  • Network Optimization: Work to develop medium-term capacity with carriers and analyze and improve network design in partnership with Supply Chain teams to achieve best-in-class cost and customer experience results.
