Job Title: Public Health Specialist for HIV/AIDS, STIs and Viral Hepatitis.
We are seeking a highly skilled public health specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have expertise in HIV/AIDS, STIs and viral hepatitis, as well as experience in project management and program implementation. They will be responsible for providing technical support and collaborating with national authorities to strengthen policies, plans, programs and projects related to HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, and elimination of vertical transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and their indicators, particularly in relation to HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, and VT. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact to effectively communicate with senior level officials, multiple stakeholders and professionals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in a health science with specialization in public health, HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, VT or any other field related to the functions of the post, from a recognized university. A master's degree in public health or infectious diseases would be an asset. Five years of national experience working in public health, with a focus on HIV/AIDS, VH, STI and VT, including project management and program implementation, is essential.
The selected candidate will contribute to the development of the Representation's Biennial Work Plan (BWP) in collaboration with the Advisor, analyzing political, technical and socioeconomic realities related to HIV/AIDS, VH, STI, and vertical transmission elimination indicators and targets. They will also support the implementation and evaluation of the overall performance of the Projects/Programs/Terms of Cooperation under his/her responsibility, and participate in the inter-programmatic work to achieve the maximum levels of efficiency and effectiveness.
Key competencies for this role include strong interpersonal skills, diplomatic and tactful communication with senior officials and stakeholders, ability to analyze complex data and develop recommendations, experience in project management and program implementation, knowledge of WHO guidelines and protocols on HIV/AIDS, VH, STI and VT, and proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Word.
