Linux Support Engineer Position

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of a Linux Support Engineer. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for providing technical support to customers and colleagues across the globe.

  • Provide technical support via telephone, email, and web-based channels, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Act as an internal customer advocate, keeping them updated in a timely manner to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Ensure that each support case owned by you is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction, meeting or exceeding performance targets.
  • Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing articles to ensure shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication, promoting transparency and cooperation.
  • Prioritize work to accomplish the most important and urgent tasks first, maximizing productivity and output.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest products and services, continuously learning and adapting to new technologies.
  • Understand the Ubuntu development process to set accurate expectations with customers regarding timelines for fixes.
  • Maintain regular communication and information exchange with the rest of the team, locally and remotely, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve service delivery, driving continuous improvement and excellence.
Requirements:
  • Excellent academic track record from both high school and university, demonstrating academic rigor and discipline.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path, showcasing adaptability and resilience.
  • Ability to confidently communicate ideas, provide feedback, and engage in constructive dialogue without hesitation, promoting a culture of open communication.
  • Track record of consistently going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting, including collecting logs and stack traces, fine-tuning by editing configuration files, and resolving complex issues efficiently.
  • Knowledge or basic hands-on experience in two or more of: Linux server administration, programming fundamentals, networking, virtualization/cloud computing concepts, enhancing versatility and expertise.
  • Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change, and handle the pressure of a customer-facing job, exhibiting agility and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
  • Appreciative of diversity, polite, and effective in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization, valuing inclusivity and respect.
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments, demonstrating accountability and responsibility.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long, embracing global teamwork and cultural exchange.
