Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Application Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the application delivery team, you will play a critical role in ensuring reliable and high-quality mainframe applications in mission-critical enterprise systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and test mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, Easytrieve, and REXX/CLIST programming languages.
  • Write and debug Job Control Language (JCL) for batch processing and job automation.
  • Perform database operations and validations using DB2, IMS DB, and IDMS databases.
  • Test online applications running on CICS and IMS DC transaction monitors.
  • Conduct unit, integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure application reliability and quality.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) cycles and assist users with test execution and defect resolution.
  • Use debugging tools such as Abend-AID, Xpediter, and IBM Debug Tool to troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage source code and packages using Panvalet, ChangeMan, Endevor, and Git version control system.
  • Document test cases, results, and root cause analyses to improve knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, datasets (PS, PDS, VSAM) in z/OS environment.
  • Expertise in JCL writing, modifying, and debugging jobs.
  • Programming languages: COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, RPG, Easytrieve, and REXX/CLIST.
  • Databases: DB2, IMS DB, IDMS — querying, data validation, and test data setup.
  • Transaction monitors: CICS, IMS DC — testing online applications.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Waterfall models.
  • Application analysis, enhancements, and defect fixing.
  • Code review and integration with source management tools.
