Lead Operational EHS in Brazil

You will be responsible for overseeing the execution of our corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, ensuring facility compliance with regulatory norms/standards.

A key aspect of this role is to champion a strong safety and EHS compliance culture through regular communication and reinforcement of key messages, including corporate EHS goals, requirements of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

You will conduct studies to ensure that safety working practices, equipment, and facilities are compliant with regulations. Additionally, you will develop and implement techniques for managing and controlling physical, chemical, and biological risks.

Maintaining facility compliance with health and safety regulations and company requirements involves conducting routine assessments. This includes assisting Operations in implementing corrective actions as necessary.

You will also be responsible for developing and leading EHS team members, coaching, mentoring, and training them to improve their professional skills. Ensuring our EHS training and competency program is implemented and followed effectively communicating EHS issues to team members at all levels.

Ensure documentation related to health and safety at work is updated and in compliance with current standards and legislation.

QA/QC incident entries into our EHS Management system to ensure accuracy, adequate review, follow up, and closure. Spot check and audit EHS team member's work.

This role requires close collaboration with the HR team to develop and implement policies and procedures for occupational health.

The ideal candidate will possess a College Degree, 7+ years of experience in North America (5-7 years of management experience preferred), a Degree in Work Safety Engineering, fluency in both spoken and written Portuguese (Brazil) and English, Registration in CREA, and a valid motor vehicle license. Experience with waste management is desirable.

We seek an individual with extensive knowledge of theories and techniques of a function, preferably in EHS.

Requirements:
  • College Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in North America (5-7 years of management experience preferred)
  • Degree in Work Safety Engineering
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Portuguese (Brazil) and English
  • Registration in CREA
  • Holds a valid motor vehicle license
  • Experience with waste management desirable
