Job Description

As a seasoned public policy professional, you will play a pivotal role in building trust and fostering collaboration with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders across Latin America. Your expertise will be instrumental in navigating the complex landscape of government relations, ensuring that Discord's interests are represented and its vision for the future of gaming is aligned with regulatory frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the policymaking process in Brazil and other key markets throughout the region. They will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into compelling narratives for non-technical audiences. Leadership experience within civil society organizations or tech companies is highly valued, as is a proven track record of success in developing and executing public policy advocacy campaigns.

Key responsibilities will include introducing Discord to government policymakers and civil society stakeholders, educating decision-makers on our founding vision, products, and investments in privacy and safety. You will also develop and execute a multi-year government advocacy strategy that maps the interests of Discord users and the company's business goals to the evolving legal and regulatory landscape.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional success at the highest levels of government and/or in strategic public policy advocacy
  • Experience developing and executing public policy advocacy campaigns in Brazil, with a plus for experience in other key markets (Mexico, Argentina, Chile) in the region
  • Insight on the policymaking process in key markets throughout the region
  • Commitment to Discord's mission to be the place where everyone can find belonging before, during and after playing games together online
  • Willingness to travel as necessary within the region, with occasional travel to the U.S. as required
