Packaging Researcher

The LATAM region is in search of a skilled Packaging Researcher to manage all packaging for the region.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring specifications are in place to guarantee quality of products. They will work with various teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Procurement to agree on the regional packaging strategy, including modifications to existing packaging, packaging range harmonization, support new customer sales, roll-out from other regions, savings, and new developments.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure regional Packaging requirements are part of the innovation briefs and be the regional packaging gatekeeper to guarantee a full proven implementation of the new packaging into the region.
  • Be the R&D Packaging expert in working with Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Procurement to manage the packaging range in LATAM.
  • Manage the packaging supply (make) and manufacturing (fill) base together with the Supply Chain in terms of quality, supplier, and 3PA selection and total costs in the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement new packaging (components) on a regional level for projects that are out of the Innovation Development process scope. Ensure projects and products are delivered against predefined set of criteria based on agreed briefs.
  • Work with Procurement and Quality Assurance Team to identify Savings opportunities for currently existent packaging.
  • Use and apply appropriate Design for Lean Six Sigma tools in the packaging qualification process, such as FMEA's and Design of Experiments in co-operation with the Engineering laboratory teams.
  • Ensure all packaging specifications and drawings are up-to-date and agreed with the suppliers and all documentation is captured in the Product Life Cycle management systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry Engineering, Packaging and Materials Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Good knowledge of engineering standards.
  • Good knowledge of packaging production, packaging materials, and filling techniques.
  • Good understanding of project management.
  • Good understanding of product life cycle management.
  • Understanding of document and revision control.
  • Able to prioritize work on multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Pro-active, organized, and constructive communication skills.
  • Intermediate English and Spanish.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Familiar with UN packaging compliance regulations.
  • Familiar with different Transport regulations.
  • Understanding of interaction between chemicals and packaging materials.
  • Familiar with Design for Lean Six Sigma tools, such as FMEA's, Design of Experiment.
