Job Description

The Industry Senior Advisor role is a critical position supporting the growth of sales pipeline and engagement with customers to secure revenue. The advisor provides industry perspective, strategic solution advice, and thought leadership to drive pipeline growth and quality through demand generation strategies, support sales cycles, and customer co-innovation programs.

This position plays a key role in building SAP's leadership position in the industry by developing and executing a quality and actionable business plan for selected industries. It also enables Sales, the VAT team, and the Partner Ecosystem on how to differentiate SAP for the industry.

The Industry Senior Advisor must develop compelling industry-specific content to support various initiatives, including driving LAC awareness and incremental demand for all above industries. This involves creating and nurturing industry customers and communities, such as ASUG, and getting doors open to create/qualify new pipeline opportunities.

In addition, this role accelerates pipeline opportunity conversion to qualified customer engagements, develops industry-specific account strategies, conducts executive first meetings to differentiate SAP based on industry relative to the customer's objectives, and delivers industry-specific customer experiences.

The Industry Senior Advisor also supports deal execution by differentiating SAP by industry throughout the sales cycle to increase win-rates and grow deal sizes. They help shape the engagement (C to B stage) by advising the sales teams to ensure a right industry message is delivered in deliverables like RFP Responses, Business Cases, Product Demos, industry solution architecture, etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications

This role requires industry experience preferred either as a practitioner or an operational consultant to the industry. Business development and/or management consulting experience is also necessary. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about Professional Services and have market/strategies/business drivers/challenges per segment. They should also have business processes across a broad set of buying centers in the business.

The Industry Senior Advisor should be proficient in speaker situations (customer 1:1 and 1: Many event situations), have experience building and retaining strong customer relationships, and be familiar with diverse technology landscapes and process/technology integration issues. They must exhibit an executive presence, excellent public speaking skills, proven CXO engagement skills, and a growth/business ownership mentality and approach.

A great storyteller using customer examples to explain why do anything, why now, and why SAP, product marketing acumen (segment, target, content, lead strategy, digital, social, etc.), solution selling acumen - ability to differentiate in complex sales, building storylines and high-quality presentations in PowerPoint, and a can-do attitude are essential for this role. Passion for how technology can be used to enable industry strategic initiatives is a plus, and SAP technology knowledge is beneficial (consulting/presales/solution management).
