Director of Studies Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Studies to lead our academic team in this senior leadership role. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, develop curricula, and manage a team of TEFL trainers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership
    • Provide visionary academic guidance
    • Lead the creation and continuous enhancement of curricula and teaching resources
    • Maintain and elevate academic standards across the program
  • Team Management & Development
    • Select, train, and oversee a team of TEFL trainers
    • Mentor newly qualified trainers, offering structured onboarding and ongoing support
    • Deliver in-house training and CPD sessions for teaching and assessment staff
    • Evaluate teacher performance, providing constructive developmental feedback
  • Assessment & Quality Assurance
    • Design, implement, and maintain clear assessment rubrics aligned with learning objectives
    • Monitor assessment consistency and integrity across the teaching team
    • Promote timely, constructive feedback to learners
  • Operational Oversight
    • Allocate teaching and assessment tasks efficiently
    • Manage timetabling logistics according to teacher availability and learner demand
    • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g. tech, admin, student support) for seamless academic operations
    • Utilize IT systems (including ticket lines and online teaching platforms) to manage workflows and communication
  • Problem-Solving & Communication
    • Proactively identify and resolve academic or operational challenges
    • Foster effective communication with multiple departments to ensure alignment across functions
    • Adeptly adapt to changing needs, particularly during peak periods and across multiple time zones
    Requirements
    • Essential:
      • TEFL qualification
      • DELTA or DipTESOL certification
      • Extensive experience teaching General English to adults online and in-person
      • Demonstrated track record in teacher training, mentoring, and academic leadership
      • Experience evaluating and assessing teaching practices
      • Strong background in academic scheduling and operations management
      • Strong digital literacy and comfort using educational platforms and IT systems
      • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
      • Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, remote working environment
    • Desirable:
      • Previous experience as a Director of Studies or in a similar academic leadership role
      • Experience managing remote teams and asynchronous workflows
      • Background in recruiting and managing academic staff
