Job Title: Legal Manager Brazil

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Manager to oversee and manage the legal department's operations in Brazil, ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Advise senior management on legal matters, including contractual, regulatory, and compliance issues, and provide recommendations for mitigating risks.
  • Review and negotiate complex agreements, contracts, and legal documents, ensuring they align with the company's legal standards and objectives.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations in different jurisdictions and proactively advise the company on potential impacts and necessary actions.
  • Manage and oversee litigation and dispute resolution processes, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Compliance, HR, Finance, and Operations, to ensure legal compliance and support business initiatives.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to provide accurate and timely advice on a wide range of legal issues.
  • Develop and deliver legal training programs to enhance legal awareness and compliance across the organization.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as regulators, industry associations, and law firms, to stay informed about legal developments and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the bar and authorized to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial position within multinational companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of international laws, regulations, and best practices relevant to the company's industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team and drive results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice and managing legal risks in a multinational environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different functions and cultures, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal) is required. Additional language skills are a plus.
