Nurse Specialist

A mental health professional providing counseling and psychological assessment is sought by our organization.

The selected candidate will provide counseling and psychological assessment and testing within an outpatient program. They will perform assessments and testing for individual, family and group counseling, coordinate and implement treatment plans, provide crisis intervention as necessary and maintain a team approach in treating patients.

• Demonstrate competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
• Conduct scientific studies of behavior patterns and cognitive function.
• Observe and interview individuals, recording interactions.
• Research psychological, emotional, behavioral or organizational patterns and identify issues.
• Diagnose potential disorders.
• Discuss possible methods of treatment with patients.
• Research and write papers on clinical psychology issues and disorders.
• Perform appropriate treatment services to assigned clients using interventions that meet accepted standards of mental health care and reflect consideration of the treatment plan.
• Provide crisis management for assigned cases and serve as a backup for the program.
• Maintain weekly scheduled client hours as required by departmental needs and standards.
• Participate as a treatment team member and maintain current knowledge of psychological theory and practice.
• Attend clinical supervision meetings and staff meetings as scheduled, coming prepared.
• Keep current with professional literature and trends in mental health.
• Attend continuing education trainings, workshops, seminars or conferences to stay current with evidenced-based standards of practice and maintain licensure.
• Communicate actively with identified staff and agencies involved in shared case work when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of service rendered to or on behalf of client populations served, adhering to QA & I, State and Joint Commission guidelines.
• Produce evaluation reports effectively addressing referral reasons and reflecting sound organization and synthesis of fact, impressions and clinical recommendations.
• Complete progress notes, reports and correspondence in a timely manner.
• Exercise self-management in performance of all duties.
• Complete client satisfaction tools according to departmental standards.
• Perform thorough risk assessments at intake sessions and as needed thereafter.
• Support community departments and service lines through activities such as speaking at support groups, teaching mental wellness topics and providing stress management seminars.
• Deliver psychological services including video and tele-therapy via hospital-approved formats as assigned.

• Must have a Clinical PsyD or PhD in clinical psychology or related area.
• Prefer graduates from a Neuropsychological curriculum.
• Prefer rehab psychology or Neuropsychology internship and 2-year post-doc.
• Clinical training must include diagnostic skills and clinical interventions meeting accepted and current standards of care.
• Must be knowledgeable in Neuropsychological Assessment and Psychological assessments related to psychiatric diagnosis.
• Outpatient evaluations, Neuropsychological Testing, Report Writing & Interpretation, Feedback, Therapy.
• Must be able to perform pre-surgical epilepsy evaluations and potentially Wada's.

• Requires sitting for extended periods, standing, walking and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently handles objects, firm grasping and twisting while performing procedures.
• Perception of object attributes through touch and ability to hear normal conversation, high and low frequencies.
• Ability to see general, near, far, color and peripheral vision and speak at normal conversation levels.
