Biomedical Equipment Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician to provide advanced levels of equipment service and support.

  • Perform maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical and clinical data/network systems.
  • Review, modify, develop, and implement written maintenance manuals and quality assurance testing procedures for medical equipment.
  • Lead new equipment evaluations, acquisitions, and installations.
  • Exercise proper judgment in evaluating the extent/source of repairs on malfunctioning equipment and determine the course of action needed to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Provide in-service training to other technicians.
Requirements

An Associate's Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering is required. Preferred work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • 4 years progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment.
  • Ability to respond to diagnostic ultrasound, portable fluoroscopy, and dye injector service calls.
  • Ability to communicate and function independently in a customer-focused service environment.
  • Proficiency in database management functions with regard to maintaining accurate device control records.
  • Competence and independence in crisis situations while appropriately alerting management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET).
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic test equipment and simulators.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Flexibility in accommodating customer needs.
