Assistant Store Manager

At PetSmart, we're seeking an exceptional Assistant Store Manager to lead our team and drive customer experience. This role is responsible for providing outstanding leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to associates, while upholding the company's vision, mission, values, and strategy.

This position requires a proven track record of success in retail leadership or customer-focused environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in computer applications, and ability to react under pressure are essential. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for pets, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • People Leadership:
    • Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and terminate associates as needed.
    • Facilitate associate experience, support development, and prioritize daily tasks.
    • Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
  • Overall Store Experience:
    • Lead associate and pet parent experiences, ensuring pets' safety and health.
    • Responsible for telephone, in-person, or online interactions with pet parents, responding to concerns.
  • Business Management:
    • Drive business growth, achieve sales and shrink targets, manage expenses, and leverage home office resources.
    • Work directly with services associates on productivity and scheduling to meet business goals.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of retail leadership or customer-focused experience.
  • Full-time availability, flexibility in schedule, and ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
