Established in 2003, our client, a global shipping & freight forwarding specialist of project cargo, is seeking a Commercial Manager for its office in Brazil. The company is now seen as a market leader with presence and service in the major ports of China, Far East, South East Asia, Middle East, Indian Sub-Continent, East, West, North and South Africa, Europe, Russia/Baltic, Mediterranean and Red Sea and further afield into North and South America.

**Main Purpose of the Role;**

The Commercial Manager will act as mediator between Customer Service/Sales team and external carriers, negotiating for the best sea freight rates in relation to project cargo i.e. OOG, Heavy Lift shipments so as to convert maximum business to the organisation.

**Working Relationships;**

**Internal**
- Customer Service, Marketing, Sales - For enquiries from the external customers / shippers, quoting freight rates, issues related to shipment, business queries, etc
- Operations - For port approvals and space issues
- Finance - For invoice, vendor payments
- Documentation - Sorting issues related to b/l release and freight

**External**
- Carriers - Interacting for Quotation, rate negotiation, confirmation, etc.
- Carriers - Building relationships for future business
- Agents - Attending to enquiries / shipment issues, etc.

**Duties & Responsibilities;**

**Pricing Finalization & carrier relationship management**
- Promptly attending and responding to enquires from Customer Support / Sales
- Identifying carrier’s strength for each trade and approaching them for rates.
- Negotiating with the carriers for the Freight rates
- Acquiring the quote on the Ocean freight Rates from different Shipping Lines in accordance with the Shipper's request
- Quoting enquiries, considering all cost parameters set by the Management.
- Co-ordinating with the carriers for smooth planning of the containers where local CS / agents face issues.
- Monitoring and analysing issued bookings for final loadings onto the vessel
- Attending meetings with the Liners in order to maintain good relationships with the carriers. Also to sort out Pricing and booking related issues and to ensure smooth functioning of business

**Co-ordination with other functions**
- Coordinating with Marketing and CS Team in order to provide smooth functioning of Pricing channels
- Following up with the CS and Marketing Team for the Shipment’s confirmation
- Following up with the Account Department and B/L desk to process invoices and updating the correct freight rate in the system.
- Approving invoices to Accounts for payment to the carrier after checking final invoice copies received from the carrier

**MIS Reporting & Market Analysis**
- Preparing the booking Report and sending to the Management as and when required
- Looking for new options of carriers for the sector handled

**To Be Considered;**
- Shipping industry experience, ideally with project cargo operations cargo i.e. OOG, Heavy Lift shipments
- Proven experience working in a similar commercially orientated role within the shipping industry
- Fluent English & Portuguese speaker with right to work in Brazil
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills

**Salary**: R$160,000.00 - R$180,000.00 per year
