Senior Assistant for Labor Inclusion and Professional Development

Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Context
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental partners. With 175 Member States, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM, the UN Migration Agency, is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Brazil is a Member State of IOM since 2004.
In Brazil, IOM works to promote the sustainable socioeconomic integration of migrants and refugees by strengthening institutional partnerships and supporting initiatives that generate lasting opportunities. It also contributes to humanitarian responses, ensures access to rights and basic services, and fosters innovative solutions to address the challenges of human mobility.
In this context, IOM Brazil seeks to expand strategies focused on professional development and labor market integration, recognizing the importance of inclusive practices and equitable access to employment opportunities. Partnerships with governments, the private sector, civil society, and institutions that promote diversity and inclusion are essential to building sustainable pathways for migrants, refugees, and local communities.
Under the overall supervision of Head of Programmes and in close coordination with the National Project Officer, the selected professional will support the articulation of partnerships, development of capacity-building methodologies, and delivery of trainings, mentoring sessions, and workshops. The professional will also be responsible for conducting needs assessments, supporting the creation of inclusive recruitment practices, and facilitating access to career development tools and opportunities for migrants and refugees. Additionally, the role includes supporting companies in implementing diversity and inclusion strategies and organizing professional development events that promote visibility and inclusion in the labor market.
