Workday Payroll experience is a must have for this role.ResponsibilitiesMaintain all critical payroll controls and procedures, including developing and enforcing standards, to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, including manual and automated input to the payroll system as well as output from the payroll system to other systems.Assist overseeing all aspects of wage attachment processingEnsure all payroll administration and accounting processes are regularly evaluated to be as streamlined and efficient as possiblePrepare payment requests for all third-party payroll liabilities other than taxesPromptly execute pre- and post-processing audits to validate payroll accuracy and promptly make adjustments so that employees and other key stakeholders have an error-free payroll experience.
Inform key partners regarding errors and corrections as appropriateEnter and release off-cycle, on-demand payments as neededCollaborate with the Tax Department, FM&C, and HR team members on all payroll issuesServe as the Tier 3 authority for payroll matters that are referred to by the HR Shared Services Center team (MyHR), ensuring that all inquiries and cases are resolved quickly with a focus on superior customer serviceHandle the various payrolls for active corporate employees, retirees, and those with disabilities including pre- and post-verifications, balancing and reconciliations, general ledger posting and journal entries, and reportingAssist with coordinating the resolution of all Tier 3 service requests escalated from MyHR within the established Service Level Agreement parametersCross-train payroll staff in all routine payroll policies and processes to eliminate single points of failure; collaborate with MyHR leadership to ensure proper training of MyHR staff as appropriateMaintain a wide variety of payroll information, files, and records for up-to-date reference and audit trails for complianceAdvance potential service issues to the Payroll Manager or DirectorQualificationsMinimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in payroll functionsAbility to function as a working (hands-on) payroll lead processing payroll, and as backup for vacation and/or high-volume periodsStrong focus on customer service and partnership with HR Shared Services Center and other COEs as requiredAbility to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentialityHighly autonomous and self-motivated with sound judgment and initiativeStrong mathematical aptitude; highly analytical with attention to detail; capable of identifying root causes and driving improvementsEffective communicator with the ability to correspond verbally and in writing across multiple constituenciesAccomplished interpersonal and time management skills to prioritize multiple projectsEffective manager capable of engaging and leveraging the expertise of assigned team membersStrong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)Knowledge of payroll administration, controls, governance, and accounting best practices, including multi-state payroll practices and tax implicationsUnderstanding of current federal, state, and local regulatory and compliance obligations related to payrollStrong proficiency with Workday Payroll module; Workday HCM knowledge preferredCompensationThis position pays $35.00 per hour on a W-2 hourly basis.Application processThe interview process will include an initial telephone or Zoom screening.
