Reinsurance Claim Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our facultative reinsurance team at an international level. Based in Miami, FL or São Paulo, Brazil, this role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving property and casualty claims. It also entails providing oversight to TPA adjusters, managing a broad claims portfolio, and assisting with training and development of the claims team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjust reinsurance claims within policy terms and market practices, in line with designated handling authority.
  • Contribute to the development of the claims function.
  • Direct and manage adjusters, appraisers, experts, and other vendors per guidelines.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients on all claim matters for assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with the global reinsurance claims division.
  • Support the underwriting team in market studies, client visits, and claim audits.
  • Participate in due diligences as part of a cross-functional transaction team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and insurance/reinsurance designations preferred.
  • 3-5 years of commercial insurance or reinsurance property/casualty claim-related experience preferred.
  • Claim reinsurance technical or audit experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a broader integrated claims team.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Strong numerical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Broad facultative cross-class claims handling experience.
  • Experience handling large, complex claims, particularly in financial lines, energy, and heavy industries.
  • Experience using P2P messaging systems.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish required; Portuguese a plus.

The selected candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial insurance policies and procedures, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills. Strong team collaboration and time management skills are also essential.
