Development Geologist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Development Geologist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in geology and experience working on development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project activities to develop geologic and static modeling objectives, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Propose technical solutions to enhance project execution efficiency and ensure effective team participation.

Quality Control, Interpretation, and Data Integration:

  • Perform quality control monitoring of geological workflows to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Integrate field data from seismic to well data and other sources, building and maintaining robust databases.

Modeling, Mapping, and Reporting:

  • Create and present detailed maps, geological sections, and reports that effectively communicate project findings.
  • Develop 3D static models on a geological basis, including structure, rock characteristics, and the likely distribution of oil/gas/mineral-bearing strata.

Risk Analysis and Well Planning:

  • Perform detailed geological risk analysis of proposed well targets, identifying potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Plan the location and trajectory of development wells, creating well proposals in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

Technology Implementation and Team Collaboration:

  • Implement new technologies in geological modeling, improving project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with subsurface, operational, and drilling engineers to optimize well placement, geo-steering, and data acquisition based on geo-models.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in geology.
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience in geology and development projects in operator environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary/multinational environment.
