Job Opportunity: Senior Manager, Telecom

This is a senior management position for an experienced professional in telecom infrastructure planning, delivery, and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the implementation of telecom services for major events such as the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 TM in Brazil.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage telecom infrastructure design, ensuring all aspects are implemented according to FIFA requirements including broadcast contribution network, event/stadium/offices/legacy networks, cabling, mobile network, radio and spectrum, telephony (VoIP), and telecom rate card.
  • Participate in scope definition, procurement liaison, supplier selection, and onboarding of telecom and network suppliers.
  • Lead management of telecom infrastructure build and implementation, ensuring timely availability of components and services, including commissioning and decommissioning of venues.
  • Oversee provision of telecom services for FIFA offices, tournaments, and events at select FIFA events.
  • Track progress of telecom infrastructure implementation, report status, issues, and risks, according to IT governance.
  • Manage international teams of telecom experts/managers, including remote personnel in other countries/time zones.
  • Liaise with and/or support other projects in clarifying requirements, adhering to robust change management protocol.
  • Communicate information pertaining to delivery and support of telecom infrastructure to all parties.
  • Deliver technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members, including preparation of good practice and educational material.
Requirements:
  • University degree or higher education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum experience of 8-10 years in Network (routing/switching/security/wireless technologies).
  • Experience in Sports/major event industry.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of complex telecom infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in management of distributed international teams of telecom experts and professionals.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge in telecom infrastructure service, including infrastructure design and implementation, network integration, and connectivity.
  • Broad understanding of telecom infrastructure and information technologies in sport events and sufficient experience in design, commissioning, and operation of following systems: BCN, WAN/MAN/LAN, MPLS, VLAN, VoIP, CATV/IPTV, Multicast, Spectrum, Mobile Networks.
  • Good procurement and contract management skills.
  • Adept at consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, and facilitation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people management, verbal and written communication, training, and presentation skills.
  • Team player, willing to work with tight timelines.
  • Positive attitude, patience, and persistence.
  • Right to work in Brazil.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in any other FIFA language (FR / ES / GER) is an asset.
  • Willing to travel within Brazil (up to 20%), with some trips with a long duration (15 days or more).
  • Ability to re-locate to Rio de Janeiro.
