Event Planning Specialist

The Event Planning Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of major sporting events, such as the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027. This individual will be responsible for driving the budget and forecast process throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive budget plan for the event, capturing all operational costs to ensure successful tournament delivery.
  • Implement financial planning tools and provide hands-on training to team members to enhance their skills.
  • Create detailed cash flow forecasts tied to operational budgets, ensuring timely payments and efficient resource allocation.
  • Lead financial planning and review processes, collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Work with the Senior Event Controller to implement financial processes and ensure smooth consolidation of operational budgets.
  • Present quarterly forecast outcomes and recommend corrective actions to various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the accrual process at year-end, supporting accounting teams and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Review monthly cost allocations to project codes and prepare reallocation journals as needed.
  • Prepare monthly management reports providing insightful commentary for stakeholders.
  • Monitor and maintain monthly cash flow forecasts reflecting operational budgets, ensuring liquidity needs are met.
Your Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and financial planning.
  • Experience in event organization in a financial role, preferably in sports or similar projects.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with financial planning tools.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, ideally in a multi-entity environment.
  • International work experience preferred.
  • Procurement advantage experience an asset.
  • SAP experience beneficial.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Business fluency in English; additional languages an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for business partnerships.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint presentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid work permit in Brazil.
  • Relocation to Rio de Janeiro possible.
