  • Additionally, they study safety quality standards for different projects and ensure each project adheres to these standards.
  • The engineer inspects foundations, observing drilling activities, and reviewing work plans to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • They present possible project risks, explain seismic activities, make recommendations for foundations and excavation activities, and summarize the progress of individual projects.
  • Other key duties include performing geostructural analysis and design of waterfront structures, interpreting field test data, estimating soil engineering properties, assigning lab tests, and estimating deep foundation lateral and axial capacities.
  • The geotechnical engineer also designs bulkheads, retaining walls, and floodwalls, develops plans and specifications, and helps resolve design problems through field investigation or inspections.
  • Furthermore, they calculate construction quantity estimates, work closely with architects, engineers, scientists, and project managers on multi-discipline projects, perform office-based construction administration, and prepare inspection reports.
