About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bid Costing Specialist to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our bid team, you will be responsible for preparing quick costing during the pre-tendering phase, based on product cost databases and return of experience from project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for bids, taking into account product costs, operational flows, and contractual aspects.
  • Cost Structure Definition: Define the cost structure for bids, aligning with RFP requirements, sales needs, and pricing strategies.
  • Target Costing: Establish target costs per activity and/or subsystem, in coordination with bid sub-system managers, to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Cost Improvement: Lead cost improvement actions to reach tender costs/target prices, leveraging all competitiveness levers and challenging contributors.
  • Financial Cost Optimization: Collaborate with the Finance Tender Manager to optimize financial costs, including bonds, financing, hedging, insurance, taxes, and other expenses.
  • Tender Cost Commitment: Consolidate tender costs commitments, adhering to financial rules and using consolidation tools.
  • Costing Robustness: Control the level of robustness of costing, ensuring consistency between scope of work, costing received, and planning, using the Costing Robustness Assessment Grid.
  • Costing Package Preparation: Prepare the Costing package for TRM, including cost analysis/bridges, standard reports, cash curves, and other relevant documents.
  • Cost Estimation for Changes: Lead cost estimation activities for changes discussed with the customer during the negotiation phase and update the cost commitment.
  • Tender Transfer Meeting: Transfer tender costing data, including related assumptions, to Project, along with variance analysis from TRM to TTM.
  • Make or Buy Evaluations: Build comparisons on different solutions and support Make or Buy evaluations, in coordination with the Finance Project Manager.
Requirements
  • Experience: More than 5 years of experience in a financial position, preferably in a similar role.
  • Skills: Ability to recognize product and associated costs, understand operational flows, analyze and challenge contributor's commitments, define cost impact of terms & conditions, and have sufficient awareness of financial rules and contractual aspects.
  • Education: Economics, accounting, finance, or engineering degree.
  • Language: Fluency in English (mandatory) and advanced Spanish skills.
  • Travel: Yes, when applicable.
