**Job Title:** Labor Lawyer Specialist
**Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled labor lawyer to join our team. As the principal legal and strategic official in labor-management relations, you will represent management in collective-bargaining negotiations, legal proceedings, arbitration, and mediation.
- Labor Relations Expertise: Provide guidance and assistance with labor relations matters, including grievances, legal claims, and administrative complaints.
- Strategic Representation: Represent management in collective-bargaining negotiations, legal proceedings, arbitration, and mediation; interpret collective bargaining agreements.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and five years of post-J.D. legal experience, including at least three years of substantial labor relations experience. Strong academic record, excellent oral and written communication skills, and membership or eligibility for membership in the local bar association are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent management in collective-bargaining negotiations, legal proceedings, arbitration, and mediation.
- Provide guidance and assistance with labor relations matters, including grievances, legal claims, and administrative complaints.
- Interpret collective bargaining agreements and advise executives, managers, and officials on labor relations matters.
- Train labor relations staff, managers, supervisors, and officials concerning the rights and obligations under the National Labor Relations Act and applicable labor law, policies, and procedures.
- Manage outside counsel in all labor relations matters and collaborate with other attorneys on labor-related issues.
Core Competencies:
- Detailed knowledge of federal and local laws applicable to employment and labor relations, and judicial and administrative agency systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of union grievance procedures and grievance arbitration processes and procedures.
- Ability to conduct and manage adversarial proceedings on behalf of management before mediation, arbitration, courts, and administrative agencies.
- Ability to plan, direct, and conduct independent legal research and related analyses on federal labor law and related legal issues.
- Ability to participate effectively in fact-finding investigations, present findings, and develop related recommendations.
