Carbon Market Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Carbon Market Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the global agricultural commodities trade, driving growth and delivering new business in environmental product markets.

• The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, valuing, negotiating, and closing structured transactions of environmental commodities and partnerships to grow and build our carbon portfolio and capabilities in Latin America.
• This role requires strong relationship management skills, with the ability to gain trust and build credibility at the most senior level internally and externally.
• The ideal candidate will have direct commercial and technical work experience in the Carbon Trading markets and/or Carbon Project Development, with a proven history of technical assessment and reviews, project certification, and carbon credit issuance.

1. Identify, value, negotiate, and close structured transactions of environmental commodities and partnerships to grow and build our carbon portfolio and capabilities in Latin America.
2. Lead opportunity identification, maturation, and delivery, building strong relationships with clients to become sources of liquidity, margin, and structure.
3. Develop internal and external relationships and network with traders, customers, organizations, consultants, and key players/stakeholders to support carbon-related trading and projects in Latin America.
4. Understand compliance and voluntary markets, integrating connections between these markets to capture opportunities across market mechanisms, geographies, methodologies, vintages, contract duration, and type, focusing on Latin America.
5. Collaborate on conceptualizing and implementing new products and services around carbon solutions and low-carbon products for customers in Latin America.
6. Identify, evaluate, and conduct due diligence assessments of origination project opportunities across all carbon standards and methodologies, focusing on agriculture-related project types.
7. Identify, analyze, and develop products for key customers, such as carbon credits, carbon-neutral ingredients, scope 3 claims, and/or impact units.
8. Provide local market information on local market conditions, regulations, events, risks, and opportunities.
9. Work closely with local teams and the Global Carbon Solutions team to support origination, development, and delivery of new businesses on both the supply and demand side of the portfolio.
10. Actively contribute to and participate as a 'carbon expert' within our organization to embed carbon within the full value chain.
11. Organize/participate in internal workshops and presentations to transfer knowledge.
12. Participate in/contribute to other climate-related strategic initiatives.

• Demonstrated expertise in carbon trading markets and/or carbon project development.
• Proven success developing wholesale origination transactions.
• Experience working with Latin America carbon markets, connecting regional carbon economics with global operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work under tight deadlines and often conflicting pressures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collect, manage, and analyze large volumes of data.
