Automated Material Handling System Technician

This role involves the operation and maintenance of automated material handling systems to ensure continuous system operation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and repair on any non-functioning or faulted system, subsystem, or component to maintain all systems and subsystems of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System.
  • Troubleshoot and replace fieldbus communication components on the material handling conveyor systems, including addressing components and running diagnostics.
  • Remove and replace mechanical parts of the conveyor, such as repairing broken chain, belting, rollers, drive motors, realigning or replacing control system sensors (photo-eyes), proximity sensors, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and adjustments on multi-axis robotic arms and End Of Arm Tools.
  • Document repairs, PMs, parts usage, and time by completing work orders in a computerized maintenance management system.

Environmental Factors:
  • Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)
  • Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)
  • Warehouse: Freezer (-20F to 0F)

Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of 480, 277, and 120 volt electrical systems (single and three phase)
  • Experience with and advanced working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) and network diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Site inspections, equipment inspections, mechanical repairs and replacements, with good mobility and physical effort (walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, carrying tools and parts)
  • Experience with MS Office programs: Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to work independently following procedures and manuals

Qualifications:
  • Hold an Associate's Degree for Electrical or Mechanical studies or 5+ years equivalent experience in an electro-mechanical field
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical or electronic schematics, mechanical diagrams, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns for troubleshooting and repairs
