Uber's Commerce Product Platform group is responsible for maintaining and improving the infrastructure for orders and payments that enables all lines of businesses across Uber to conduct business.
All commerce in and out of Uber flows through these critical systems.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc).
- Good experience with at least one of the main programming languages used at Uber - such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Swift, Objective-C, Python or JavaScript.
- Experience as a technical leader and manager for at least 4+ years and significant experience building and operating critical large-scale critically important systems.
- Management and team development skills: Ability to set roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate thoughtfully, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and constructive feedback, help team members grow in their careers, and deliver results.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, product management, project management and business to come up with roadmap, plan and implement projects in the roadmap on schedule.
The engineering manager will work with team members in USA, Brazil and other places around the world to coordinate and contribute to the goals and missions of Order Platform team.
The person will also partner with stakeholders and helps execute team efforts to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
- Manage a team of software engineers to deliver outstanding order processing and related solutions
- Partner with customer teams, product management, project management and other stakeholders to help find opportunities, gather requirements, and lead a technology roadmap and vision for the team
- Develop systems and software to bring outstanding solutions to one of the largest scalable systems at Uber.
- Provide technical leadership to build, develop and scale the team.
- Recruit, lead and grow a top notch engineering team.
- Mentor engineers, build a strong culture of quality, handle disagreements well and help build consensus.
Offices continue to be central to teamwork and Uber's cultural identity.
Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at the least half of their work time in their assigned office.
For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are encouraged to be in-office for 100% of their time.
