Key Account Manager Job Overview

  1. Establish strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders at assigned customer accounts.
  2. Continuously assess, clarify, validate, and quantify the customers' existing and unmet needs.
  3. Develop a Local Business Plan with a two-to-three-year ambition for revenue growth in coordination with local commercial organizations and customers as needed.
  4. Create a yearly Tactical Action Plan per account to support budget achievement.
  5. Review and agree on key projects and priorities to work on with customers, identify necessary resources, and KPIs required to meet mutually accepted objectives.
  6. Lead the execution of plans with customer input where appropriate.
  7. Build annual business strategies in conjunction with local teams and monitor achievements.
  8. Drive service development efforts, generate initiatives, and implement processes that best address key customer needs through coordinating internal resources.
  9. Negotiate and implement Master Service Agreements or terms and conditions, including pricing, for assigned customer accounts as required.
  10. Maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards and current company policies.
  11. Ensure globally agreed pricing is fully implemented at customer account level. Obtain authorization from the global Sales team for any further pricing changes.
  12. Maintain customer knowledge by sharing available information and maintaining customer records according to company guidelines and tools.
  13. Organize and lead regular internal and customer-facing business reviews to monitor performance and identify corrective actions as needed.
  14. The ideal candidate will have a scientific or business degree and 5-8 years of experience in sales functions (level 7) or 8-10 years (level 6).
  15. A strong understanding of strategic selling processes and contract management is required.
  16. Excellent integrator and negotiator skills are essential.
  17. Ability to develop profitability schemes for companies and customers is a must.

  • Scientific or business degree.
  • 5-8 years of experience in sales functions (level 7) or 8-10 years (level 6).
  • Strong understanding of business-to-business and/or corporate account sales with strategic selling processes and contract management.
  • Excellent integration and negotiation abilities.
