Operational Strategy Consultant

The primary role involves overseeing the successful execution of the proposal development process within the Operational Strategy Unit, from the receipt of RFPs to the client's final decision.

  • Assumes leadership and accountability for operational strategies, ensuring a seamless transition during bid defense and managing all associated operational proposal deliverables, which contributes to an enhanced RFP success rate and overall business growth.
  • Identifies and leverages opportunities to meet targets while fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Responsible for crafting RFPs and supplementary documents for intricate, multi-regional, multi-service clinical development projects, as well as partnership and prospective selling initiatives.
  • Transforms commercial win strategies into operational plans that optimize RFP success rates, thereby driving business growth; determines the necessary proposal deliverables and key operational messages while supporting the clinical operations triage process.
  • Ensures that budgets align with operational strategies and manages proposal deliverables to meet profitability objectives.
  • Collaborates with therapeutic and cross-functional leadership teams to evaluate success, profitability, and execution capabilities, while assessing processes and bidding algorithms.
  • Facilitates the development of the operations segment of proposal deliverables within established timelines, communicates operational strategies to the proposal team, and establishes KPIs to ensure a successful operations segment.
  • Partners with Clinical Operations, Commercial Organizations, and MMS to improve proposal efficiency management, aiming to reduce costs of sales.
  • Directs the operations escalation process and provides guidance to the commercial strategy team.
  • Recommends and supports revisions based on Clinical Operations feedback post-award to ensure successful proposal execution.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant formal academic/vocational qualification is required. Previous experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the role (approximately 15+ years) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is essential.

The ideal candidate will possess therapeutic experience in relevant areas such as General Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiovascular/Metabolic, Infectious/Respiratory Disease, Hematology/Oncology, Neuroscience, Vaccines, PPAS, and Government.

Experience in Clinical Operations and/or Project Management in clinical trial delivery is preferred, having supported the operational delivery of multiple projects of varying complexity as a global project lead or oversight director, covering different phases and designs, along with a strong understanding of operations finance and management, presentation skills, and contract negotiation.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a matrixed environment; proven ability to influence executive and C-suite team members regarding contributions to client deliverables.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical project management, business organization, functional areas, and business strategy.
  • Exceptional customer relationship management skills and strong commercial acumen.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments while managing multiple issues across various projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in proposal development and demonstrated strategic planning capabilities.
  • Strong organizational agility, negotiation skills, and a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Ability to build effective peer relationships and teams with demonstrated global and cultural awareness.
  • Effective coaching, persuasion, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, prioritization, and time management proficiencies.
  • In-depth understanding of sponsor/CRO business practices and advanced knowledge of operational/financial practices, SOPs, GCPs, and FDA/ICH guidelines, with the ability to analyze and evaluate processes and procedures.
