Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Banking Director to lead our Southern Cone region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in banking, regional expertise, and a proven track record of successful business development.

About the Role

The Banking Director will be responsible for achieving the region's business and impact targets. This includes maintaining relationships with governments, participating in business development with private sector clients and entities, and providing guidance and oversight to Country Representatives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain relationships with governments and participate in business development with private sector clients and entities.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to Country Representatives, supporting their strategic, tactical, and operational responsibilities.
  • Oversee and be responsible for business performance from a regional perspective with the Delivery Units.
  • Shape country strategies from a private sector perspective, together with the corresponding Country Representatives.
  • Define countries' priorities and strategies and establish upstream work.
  • Identify, promote, and execute synergies with IDB and IDB Lab.
  • Manage operational, human, capital, and budgetary resources at the unit level.
  • Coordinate with IDB (VPS) and IDB Lab counterparts to promote synergies.
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience as a banker with a proven business track record.
  • Proven regional expertise and strong relationships with the market and clients in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank's official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is required.
  • No citizenship requirements.
  • No family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
