Government Contracting Specialist

About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Acquisition Specialist to support our client in their efforts to manage and execute contracts with government agencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the contracting lifecycle, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and experience supporting multi-functional technical teams for large, complex programs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Preparation and Review: Participate in the preparation and review of proposed Statements of Work (SOWs) and Statements of Objectives (SOOs).
  • Acquisition Strategies: Assist the Contracting Officer in developing acquisition strategies and source selection processes.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost and price analysis of contractor proposals to support negotiations.
  • Compliance Review: Review incoming invoices for compliance and maintain contract files.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor contractor performance and assist with contract/task order closeouts.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Acquisition Experience: 10+ years of acquisition experience and a Bachelor's degree preferred (additional experience may substitute for degree).
  • Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR): Strong understanding of the FAR and its application in government contracting.
  • Technical Team Support: Experience supporting multi-functional technical teams for large, complex programs.
  • Citizenship: Ability to pass a government background investigation; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DH Acquisition Experience: 3+ years of experience with DHS Acquisition and knowledge of DHS HSAR.
  • DAWIA Certification: DAWIA, FAC, or NCMA Contracting or Program Management Certifications.
  • Level II Contracting Officer: 3+ years of experience as a warranted Level II contracting officer.
  • PMP Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
